Akmo is an artist and businesswoman in her twenties. In his native Kyrgyzstan, he learned about different forms of art: painting, ceramics and singing. “At the end of the 90s, they used to turn off the lights after 11pm, so my family would sit around the candles and my father would play the guitar and I would sing,” he tells Euronews.

Every time he passed the local conservatory, “he would stare at the artists.” Later, she attended an international singing competition in Asia and won a special artist award, and “that’s how she was admitted to a conservatory.”

Akmo had to interrupt his studies to work and support his family. He moved to Dubai at the age of 18, with the idea of staying a year. “When I moved to Dubai and started working and exchanging experiences with other artists from different countries, I realized that I am learning much more here than at school. It was then that I realized that I was in the right place, that I could develop my full potential here, “he says

After teaching music for three years, she began her singing career at various venues in Dubai, including the Burj Khalifa. “I performed for celebrities like Hugh Jackman and for various sports and music stars,” he said.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the concerts were suspended and he repainted. It was then that he came up with the idea of starting ARTfem , a three-hour guided painting experience that takes place in the afternoon and lasts until sunset.

“Every week the tickets for each event are sold out. ARTfem has become a claim for people to go out on weekends,” she says, adding: “When I arrived in Dubai a few years ago, I never thought that I would own of a business “, assures the artist.

Now, Akmo is working in an e-commerce business “to be able to offer the ARTfem experience to people, in their homes.” And in the meantime, also creating his painting collection to be exhibited at “Art Dubai 2022”. “Dubai has surprised me in an unimaginable way. I’m looking forward to seeing what other surprises the city has in store for me,” he says.
