How the Fusion of Art, Medicine, and Science Impacted Dr. Ross Blagg to Become a Content Creator and Plastic Surgeon

He was just 14 years old when he learned about plastic surgery. Having been a congenital heart disease survivor, Ross was already interested in medicine. But he was also an artist, painting and drawing from a young age. Plastic surgery seemed to be the perfect fusion of the things he loved most about life; a fusion of what he found beautiful and fascinating.

Today, Dr. Ross is a plastic surgeon in Austin, TX, fusing art and science on the daily. But he is known to always have other projects in the works. “I’m an insomniac since childhood, so I just have lots of pursuits,” he says. During his time in plastic surgery, he has unlocked other scores of achievements. He owns DocFormula, a business that produces surgery-related supplements. Recently, Ross has developed a supplement called ‘The After Surgery Supplement’ for decreased inflammation, and enhanced pain control and wound healing.

He also founded the humanitarian organization, Humanitarian Plastic Surgery during residency, an organization to help people living in poor countries get access to surgical care. He’s also still an avid artist, producing amazing pieces that he largely either sells for charity or gives to friends and family. He has been named as one of the top Texas plastic surgeons for several years. But one of his most inspiring ventures is Plastic Surgery Road Trip, an adventurous, philanthropic, inspiring docu-series endeavor. Remember, this is a guy that loves fusion!

Before the COVID-19 pandemic caught the world like wildfire, Dr. Ross traveled overseas for surgical missions. However, after strict restrictions were imposed in the wake of rapidly spreading disease, Ross was forced to stay inside the country and terminate philanthropic missions abroad.

But it didn’t take much before Dr. Ross came up with a way to pursue his humanitarian mission. He started Plastic Surgery Road Trip, a docuseries filmed by his own production house, Lyfe in Plastic Productions. In this project, Dr. Ross and a buddy scour the country finding real people who have already revamped their own lives and who need plastic surgery to help complete their journeys. An adventurer at heart, he goes to lengths to create a thrilling road trip ride along the way.

Dr. Ross is somehow able to merge his passions in life and to not lose sight of who he is and what he wants to accomplish with his time on Earth. Why not combine adventure travel, philanthropy and plastic surgery makeovers into one project?  He did it at age fourteen when he decided to converge his love for the arts, medicine, and science by choosing plastic surgery.
