While some people take pride in being conventional, there are others, though small in number, who are not constrained by conventional thinking. They strive for bigger things and are stubborn enough to achieve their goals against all odds.
What sets these people apart? While many want to be successful, they are unwilling to put in the blood, sweat, and tears it takes to get there. Thinking big demands willpower and a lot of work! More work than many of us are willing to invest!
Malcolm Gladwell told us that if you want to be an expert or champion in something, you need to dedicate your 10,000 hours to it. That’s 2 hours each day for 20 years!
Also, if you are going to dedicate such a huge chunk of your life for something, you definitely need to feel passionate about it.
Sounds tough? It is! But Iman Taheri makes it look easy. He is already one of the top professionals in the world. And he’s got big dreams for his future, this planet, and its inhabitants.
Dr. Iman, who graduated from medical school as the youngest general surgeon in 2014 has been practicing medicine worldwide with priority on the challenged regions, volunteering in war-torn and poverty-stricken areas without any easily available access to modern medicine and sophisticated medical technology especially in trauma surgery.
After his general surgery residency, Dr. Taheri volunteered in a drug war zone in one of the most unfortunate areas in Southern Iran. After two years of practice, mostly in trauma surgery, Dr. Iman certified in Dubai for cosmetic surgery.
He loves the fact by being a surgeon he can save lives by overcoming the challenges along the way. While getting exposure to people’s pain and suffering as a doctor and a poet, he believes he has become more empathetic and emotionally strong.
The experience of working in different environments, especially in some of the most unfortunate places including traumatic war zones, not only gave him immense exposure and experience but also opened his eyes. It made him believe that saving lives is not enough. We must aim to continue to build on and to leave a legacy to change lives as well as change mindsets.
Dr. Iman’s ultimate goal is to continue to positively impact and spread the messages of positivity and to teach others that if they have a dream, then they surely can achieve it!
Life is full of possibilities. The world is massive. The sky is still unexplored. And the universe is still unknown. So why do you think you need to be limited?
