David Garcia Gonzalez on the Strains of Growing an Internationally Recognized Brand in a Foreign Country

David Garcia Gonzalez is a successful entrepreneur, best-selling author, business investor, and influencer. He is also the founder of GoLocalise, a localization business that provides translation, subtitling, and voiceover talents. How did David start this business and achieve the height of success? Let’s dive into David’s story from the very start when he was born in Gijon, Spain. 

David had a dire interest in languages and adventure, so he traveled to the United Kingdom for his studies. After getting a combined degree in linguistics, languages, and computing, he struggled with what he really wanted to do. He did his Masters in Applied Translation Studies with a major in legal translation from the London Metropolitan University. “I then realized why I had hated legal translation so much as a subject,” says David.  

So for the first time ever, David decided to study something with a specific reason behind it – his passion. He took an online Masters in Audiovisual Translation and learned dubbing, localization, and subtitling from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. Being bilingual came in handy, and after working as a Spanish-speaking translator and voiceover talent, David finally decided to start his own localization business. That is when GoLocalise was established. 

David joined the Entrepreneurs’ Circle, which is the brainchild of serial entrepreneur Nigel Botterill and learned to polish his entrepreneurial skills with the circle’s practical help. GoLocalise reached new heights in only fifteen years with over four hundred clients from various sectors, one thousand translators, subtitlers, and voiceover artists in over a hundred languages.
