Organized by the Onassis Foundation, it can be seen at the Pedion tou Areos Park in Athens.

How does artificial intelligence see us?

It includes 25 works that form three different routes. The main one analyzes how we see artificial intelligence and how it sees us. How it influences public spaces, political processes and democracy. As it is part of and substitute for the natural environment.

Algorithm, abstract and invisible

“Algorithm is a quite abstract and invisible term”, explains the curator of the exhibition Irini Mirena Papadimitriou. “But we use it in everyday life. The goal of this project is not to present a dystopian or utopian vision of the algorithm system and artificial intelligence, but to help us realize how much they invade our private and public lives.”

Large high-definition screens, 3D sculptures and different installations are arranged so that the visitor meets them in a kind of serendipity, as if by chance. This has been one of the exhibitions held in Greece that has posed the most technical challenges. It has more than 140 square meters of LED screens.

They question our democracy and show us beauty

“In this exhibition we see how we have let algorithms conquer our lives, how, in the end, sometimes, or unfortunately many times, they decide for us”, comments Afroditi Panagiotakou, Director of Culture of the Onassis Foundation. “They have come and invaded our lives. They have come and posed serious questions to our democracy. On the other hand, they record the beauty of our universe. They may have become our tool to reaffirm democracy, to restore freedom to us.”

“It is a very interesting exhibition,” says this visitor. “And very impressive. Especially all those screens placed in the park. It is a bit difficult to understand what the message of each work is or what it is exactly. It takes time. But it is something unique to see this intervention in public space. It is very beautiful”.

“You and AI”, “You and artificial intelligence”, in Athens until July 18.
